1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 455B.280 Sale of water to persons
2 outside the state —— reports.
3 By January 31 of each year, an entity that sells water
4 withdrawn in this state to a person outside the state shall
5 submit to the department a report detailing the amount of water
6 that the entity withdrew in this state and sold to a person
7 outside the state in the previous calendar year.
8 EXPLANATION
9 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
10 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
11 This bill relates to the sale of water to a person outside
12 the state. The bill requires an entity that sells water
13 withdrawn in this state to a person outside the state to submit
14 to the department of natural resources, by January 31 of each
15 year, a report detailing the amount of water that the entity
16 withdrew in this state and sold to a person outside the state
17 in the previous calendar year. By operation of law, a person
18 who violates the bill is subject to civil enforcement, which
19 may include a civil penalty not to exceed $500 for each day a
20 violation occurs.
