HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 13

1 A Resolution recognizing and congratulating the
2 University of Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team
3 on the 2020-2021 college basketball season and
4 for qualifying for the 2021 National Collegiate
5 Athletic Association Division 1 women’s basketball
6 tournament.
7 WHEREAS, the University of Iowa Hawkeyes women’s
8 basketball team finished sixth in the 2020-2021 Big
9 10 Conference regular-season standings, appeared in
10 the Big 10 Conference championship game, and received
11 an invitation to compete in the National Collegiate
12 Athletic Association Division 1 women’s basketball
13 tournament, earning a No. 5 seed in the River Walk
14 region; and
15 WHEREAS, the team shared the conference lead with
16 nine players selected as Winter Academic All-Big 10
17 honorees; and
18 WHEREAS, the team finished the Big 10 Conference
19 regular season with the Freshman of the Year, Women’s
20 College Basketball Coaches Association Co-Freshman of
21 the Year, and Dawn Staley Award recipient as the best
22 all-around guard Caitlin Clark who led the nation in
23 scoring and three-pointers made per game; and
24 WHEREAS, the team included two first team All-Big 10
25 players, Caitlin Clark and Monika Czinaro; and
26 WHEREAS, the team earned two victories in the
27 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division
28 1 women’s basketball tournament, including over

1 Central Michigan and Kentucky, leading up to a highly
2 anticipated matchup with the University of Connecticut
3 in the Sweet 16; NOW THEREFORE,
4 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That
5 the House of Representatives congratulates Coach Lisa
6 Bluder and all the members of the University of Iowa
7 women’s basketball team for the outstanding 2020-2021
8 college basketball season and for representing the
9 state as one of the top teams in the country by
10 competing in the Sweet 16 of the National Collegiate
11 Athletic Association Division 1 women’s basketball
12 tournament.
