AN ACT
RELATING TO PARTICIPATION IN AND CREDIT FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION
UNDER THE EDUCATIONAL STANDARDS.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 256.11, subsection 5, paragraph g, Code
2 2021, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph:
3 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH. (4) A student who is enrolled in a junior
4 reserve officers’ training corps shall not be required to
5 participate in physical education activities under subparagraph
6 (1) or to meet the physical activity requirements of subsection
7 6, paragraph “b”, subparagraph (2), but shall receive
8 one-eighth unit of physical education credit for each semester,

9 or the equivalent, of junior reserve officers’ training corps
10 the student completes.
