2 and pharmacists under Medicaid managed care.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 Section 1. MEDICAID MANAGED CARE —— PARTICIPATING
2 PHARMACIES AND PHARMACISTS. A Medicaid managed care
3 organization shall contract with any licensed pharmacy or
4 pharmacist located within the geographic service area of the
5 managed care organization as a participating network provider
6 if the licensed pharmacy or pharmacist agrees to comply with
7 the terms and conditions for participation in the managed care
8 organization’s network, meets and agrees to the conditions
9 for participation in the Medicaid program established by the
10 department of human services, accepts the prevailing Medicaid
11 reimbursement, and is subject to license discipline pursuant to
12 section 155A.12 or 155A.15, as applicable.
13 EXPLANATION
14 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
15 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
16 This bill requires a Medicaid managed care organization
17 to contract with any licensed pharmacy or pharmacist located
18 within the geographic service area of the managed care
19 organization as a participating network provider if the
20 licensed pharmacy or pharmacist agrees to comply with the
21 terms and conditions for participation in the managed care
22 organization’s network, meets and agrees to the conditions
23 for participation in the Medicaid program established by the
24 department of human services, accepts the prevailing Medicaid
25 reimbursement, and is subject to license discipline.
