1 An Act relating to the practice of cosmetology at wedding
2 venues.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 Section 1. Section 157.13, subsection 1, Code 2021, is
2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
3 NEW PARAGRAPH. 0b. A licensee may practice at a location
4 which is not a licensed salon, school of cosmetology arts and
5 sciences, or licensed barbershop if a wedding is scheduled to
6 occur at that location on the day the practice occurs. The
7 department shall adopt rules for the practice of cosmetology
8 at such a location.
9 EXPLANATION
10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
12 This bill allows a licensed cosmetologist to practice
13 cosmetology at a location that is not a licensed salon, school
14 of cosmetology arts and sciences, or licensed barbershop if
15 a wedding is scheduled to occur at that location on the day
16 the practice occurs. The bill requires the Iowa department of
17 public health to adopt rules for the practice of cosmetology
18 at such a location.
