1 Section 1. Section 280.13C, subsection 2, paragraph e, Code
2 2021, is amended to read as follows:
3 e. “Licensed health care provider” means a physician,
4 physician assistant, chiropractor, advanced registered
5 nurse practitioner, nurse, physical therapist, occupational
6 therapist, or athletic trainer licensed by a board designated
7 under section 147.13.
8 EXPLANATION
9 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
10 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
11 This bill adds occupational therapists to the definition
12 of “licensed health care provider” for purposes of state
13 law regarding concussion and brain injury policies for
14 extracurricular interscholastic activities. Duties of such
15 licensed health care providers include but are not limited
16 to making determinations regarding removal of students
17 from participation in such activities and their return to
18 participation.
