1 Section 1. MEDICAL RESIDENCY POSITIONS —— OFFER OF
2 INTERVIEW —— APPLICANTS MEETING CERTAIN CRITERIA. The
3 university of Iowa hospitals and clinics shall offer an
4 interview for an available medical residency position to any
5 applicant who has a residency specialty in obstetrics and
6 gynecology, psychiatry, general surgery, cardiology, neurology,
7 or primary care and who also is a resident of Iowa, attended
8 and earned an undergraduate degree from an Iowa college or
9 university, or attended and earned a medical degree from a
10 medical school in Iowa.
11 EXPLANATION
12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
13 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
14 This bill requires the university of Iowa hospitals
15 and clinics to offer an interview for an available medical
16 residency position to any applicant who has a residency
17 specialty in obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, general
18 surgery, cardiology, neurology, or primary care and who is also
19 a resident of Iowa, attended and earned an undergraduate degree
