1 An Act Act relating to the Medicaid reimbursement process
2 for services provided by a receiving district to children
3 requiring special education services.
4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 Section 1. Section 282.18, subsection 8, Code 2021, is
2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
3 NEW PARAGRAPH. c. For children requiring special education,
4 the receiving district shall complete and provide to the
5 district of residence the documentation necessary to seek
6 Medicaid reimbursement for eligible services.
7 EXPLANATION
8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
9 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
10 This bill provides that when a child requiring special
11 education transfers from the child’s school district of
12 residence to a receiving school district, the receiving school
13 district shall complete and provide to the school district
14 of residence the documentation necessary to seek Medicaid
15 reimbursement for eligible services.
