Your Committee on Consumer Protection & Commerce, to which
was referred S.C.R. No. 112 entitled:
“SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HAWAII STATE
CENTER FOR NURSING TO CONVENE A WORKING GROUP TO STUDY THE
FEASIBILITY AND IMPACT OF THE STATE ADOPTING THE NURSE
LICENSURE COMPACT,”
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to request that the Hawaii
State Center for Nursing convene a working group to study the
feasibility and impact of the state adopting the Nurse Licensure
Compact.
The Queen’s Health System, Healthcare Association of Hawaii,
and HMSA testified in support. One individual testified in
opposition. The Board of Nursing, Grassroot Institute of Hawaii,
and Hawaii State Center for Nursing offered comments.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Consumer Protection & Commerce that is attached to
this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of
S.C.R. No. 112 and recommends its adoption.
