SENATE RESOLUTION
 
 
requesting THE GOVERNOR'S COORDINATOR ON HOMELESSNESS TO PROVIDE a status update on Kukui'ola Village and WORK WITH THE HAWAII INTERAGENCY COUNCIL ON HOMELESSNESS TO FURTHER FUND THE ka lamaku shelter until the CONSTRUCTION OF kukui'ola village IS COMPLETED.
 
 
        WHEREAS, in 2018, the Legislature allocated funding to the Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation and    Ohana Zones initiative to help the State gain momentum in its struggle with homelessness; and
 
        WHEREAS, Kukui   ola emergency shelter and Village 9 Affordable Rental Community (Kukui   ola Village) was the first project approved under the State's    Ohana Zone; and
 
        WHEREAS, in November 2019, the County of Hawai   i submitted the Final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact (FEA-FONSI) for Kukui   ola Village, allowing the project to move forward; and
 
        WHEREAS, in September 2020, the County of Hawai   i blessed the future Kukui   ola Village site at a groundbreaking ceremony; now, therefore,
 
        BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Thirty-first Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2021, that the Office of the Governor's Coordinator on Homelessness provide a status update regarding Kukui   ola Village; and
 
        BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Coordinator on Homelessness and the Hawaii Interagency Council on Homelessness are urged to fund the Ka Lamaku temporary houseless shelter until the construction of Kukui   ola Village is completed; and
 
        BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Governor's Coordinator on Homelessness and the Hawaii Interagency Council on Homelessness.
