3 836.131, F.S.; prohibiting the performance of certain
4 acts with specified intent while falsely personating
5 another; providing criminal penalties; providing an
6 effective date.

8 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10 Section 1. Section 836.131, Florida Statutes, is created
11 to read:
12 836.131 Falsely personating another.—
13 (1) A person may not knowingly perform an act as if he or
14 she were another person that, if done by the other person, could
15 reasonably be expected subject such other person to:
16 (a) Civil or criminal liability; or
17 (b) Any other liability, charge, forfeiture, or pena lty,
18
19 if such act was performed with the intent to unlawfully gain a
20 benefit for herself, himself, or another person or to injure or
21 defraud another person.
22 (2) A person who violates this section commits a felony of
23 the third degree punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s.
24 775.083, or s. 775.084.
25 Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 2023.
