5 suppliers of water to give public notice of water
6 problems and corrective measures through text messages
7 to owners or occupants of affected residences;
8 requiring specified information to be included in the
9 notice by text message; providing an effective dat e.

11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
12
13 Section 1. Paragraph (j) of subsection (2) of section
14 381.0062, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
15 381.0062 Supervision; private and certain public water
16 systems.—
17 (2) SUPERVISION.—The department and its agents shall have
18 general supervision and control over all private water systems,
19 multifamily water systems, and public water systems not covered
20 or included in the Florida Safe Drinking Water Act (part VI of
21 chapter 403), and over those aspects of the public water supply
22 program for which it has the duties and responsibilities
23 provided for in part VI of chapter 403. The department shall:
24 (j) Require suppliers of water to give public notice of
25 water problems and corrective measures under the conditions

26 specified by rule of the department. Such notice must also be
27 provided by text message to each owner or occupant of affected
28 residences in which health hazards exist due to contamination
29 from pollutants or hazardous substances. The notice by text
30 message must include the date of the findings of contamination,
31 the levels of contamination found, and the date of restoration
32 of potable water.
33 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2023.
