1 House Resolution
2 A resolution commending the Tampa Bay Lightning for
3 their outstanding performance in the 2019-2020
4 National Hockey League season and winning the Stanley
5 Cup.

7 WHEREAS, in Game 6 of the 2020 Stanley Cup Finals, the
8 Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Dallas Stars by a score of 2-0,
9 playing in an empty arena in Edmonton, Alberta, because of the
10 COVID-19 pandemic, and
11 WHEREAS, over its 27 seasons, the Tampa Bay Lightning has
12 made the Stanley Cup playoffs 12 times and advanced to the
13 Stanley Cup Finals three times, where it has won two
14 championships, and
15 WHEREAS, since the 2014-2015 season, no other National
16 Hockey League team has won more regular season or playoff games
17 than the Tampa Bay Lightning, and
18 WHEREAS, the Tampa Bay Lightning's 2020 championship brings
19 the Stanley Cup, North America's oldest and most prestigious
20 professional sports trophy, back to the Tampa Bay area and the
21 State of Florida, NOW, THEREFORE,

23 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

26 That the Tampa Bay Lightning players, coaches, managers,
27 and owners are commended for winning the 2020 Stanley Cup,
28 making Tampa the home of the best professional ice hockey team
29 in North America for the second time.
30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
31 presented to the Tampa Bay Lightning as a tangible token of the
32 sentiments expressed herein.
