Events Establishment Act of 2008, effective April 15, 2008 (D.C. Law 17-148; D.C. Official Code §

17 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, that this
18 resolution may be cited as the "Commission on Fashion Arts and Events Sasha Perea
19 Confirmation Resolution of 2024".
20 Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the appointment of:

30 Jackson, for the remainder of an unexpired term to end April 15, 2028.
31 Sec. 3. The Council shall transmit a copy of this resolution, upon its adoption, to the
32 nominee and to the Office of the Mayor.
33 Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.

Sasha Perea
Ms. Sasha Perea was the first Colombian to serve as Miss DC USA in
2021 and has a passion for the fashion industry and representing her
community. Ms. Perea is a distinguished bilingual model, accomplished
host, published author, model coach, and seasoned pageant veteran. She
has hosted DC Fashion Week and collaborated with the Colombian
Embassy on events.
In addition to her flourishing career, Ms. Perea was honored with the
DMV 35 Under 35 award in 2021. Her contributions to the DC
community were acknowledged by the Mayor’s Office on Latino
Affairs at the 2022 Afro Latino Fest, where she was recognized for “her
unparalleled work in mass media and fashion.” Notably, Ms. Perea was celebrated as the first
Colombian and Afro-Latino to win the title of Miss DC USA and compete at the Miss USA
pageant. She then went on to represent the District in Colombia, where she placed Top 6 at the
Miss Grand Colombia Pageant in June 2023.
A Ward 6 resident, Ms. Perea earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the
University of North Carolina.
