142; D.C. Official Code § 1-523.01), and pursuant to section 201 of the District of Columbia Health
Occupations Revision Act of 1985, effective March 25, 1986 (D.C. Law 6-99; D.C. Official Code § 3-

17 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, that this
18 resolution may be cited as the "Board of Dentistry Dr. Chanelle Roberts Confirmation
19 Resolution of 2024".
20 Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the appointment of:

hygiene exams. Frequently collaborates with OMFS Dr. Renee McCoy-Collins for treatment planning
of implant, ortho and edentulous patients. Certified Invisalign Provider.
General Dentist | Maryland Center for Aesthetic Dentistry: 2020
Provided disability evaluations for veterans and active duty service members seeking compensation
or pension benefits. Completed dental procedures on existing patient population including but not
limited to fixed & removable prosthetics, extractions, restorations, prophylaxis & exams.
GEARUP College Counselor | University of Kansas: 2017 – 2018
Facilitated sleepaway college prep program for under-privileged high school seniors that exposed
them to the experiences of college life, academics & time management. Worked with high school
graduates during the transition into their first year of college, addressing FAFSA applications,
schedule planning, and extra-curricular involvement.
Dental Assistant | Family Smiles Dental: 2016
Worked with Dr. Moneeze Mujtaba in a general dentistry practice in Pembroke Pines, FL. Assisted
several procedures including extractions, root canals, crowns, bridges, x-rays, composite & amalgam
restorations and core buildups. Received in-office training on assisting and patient management.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
● SNDA Speaker | 2020-2023: Presented on various virtual and in-person panels to current dental
students on preparation for life after dental school.
● Hampton University Pre-Health Symposium Panelist | Speaker on the yearly homecoming
panel for undergrad students showcasing alumni currently working within the allied health
fields.
● Explorer’s Post | 2016-2020: Facilitated a monthly event for high school & college pre-dental
students to visit the dental school, attend a lecture & participate in a hands-on activity such as
taking impressions, suturing, taking radiographs, and drilling composite preps.
● MLK Day of Service | 2019-2020: Planned & coordinated the dental schools project to collect &
assemble 1000+ dental kits to be delivered to surrounding shelters & medical centers.
● UMKC Office of Student Programs Diversity & Recruitment volunteer | 2016-2020: Assisted
the OSP with their efforts in reaching & retaining applicants of color.
● Midwest Dental Conference | 2017-2019: Volunteered with the conference hosted yearly by
the UMKC Alumni office in roles such as registration desk & information booth attendant.
● AEP/STAHR Summer Programs Mentor | 2018-2020: Mentored pre-dental students in summer
enrichment programs designed to prepare them for successful admission to dental school.
● Shalom Missional Baptist Church Health Fair | 2019: Conducted free dental screenings &
distributed hygiene kits to community members.

Dr. Chanelle Roberts
Dr. Chanelle Roberts, DDS is a general dentist at Capitol Dental and has
previously worked at the Maryland Center for Aesthetic Dentistry.
While attending the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) she
served her school and community through mentorship, leadership, and
service activities. She served as the Vice President of UMKC’s chapter
of the Student National Dental Association (SNDA), and as the Regions
4 and 6 Coordinator for the national SNDA organization. Yearly she
helped plan and coordinate the schools MLK Day of service event which
packaged and delivered thousands of dental kits to the community. She
also was a founding member of the dentals school’s minority
mentorship pipeline program.
Dr. Roberts is a member of the National Dental Association, American Dental Association, the
Robert T. Freeman Dental Society, and the DC Dental Society. She regularly mentors predental
students at her workplace and is frequently called on to speak to and encourage current minority
dental students, both at national conferences and within dental schools
A Ward 5 resident, Dr. Roberts earned her Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology
from Hampton University, her Master of Science in Biomedical Science from Barry University,
and her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
