A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION

IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
December 6, 2022
To honor and celebrate Myron (Mike) Silverstein for 20 years of exceptional leadership,
advocacy, and service as a Commissioner for Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2B,
upon the end of his tenure as Commissioner.
WHEREAS, Mike Silverstein has served as an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner
for Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2B for 20 years;
WHEREAS, Mike Silverstein is a tireless proponent for the LGBTQQIA+ community,
including advocating for hate crime protections and LGBTQQIA+ senior housing;
WHEREAS, Mike Silverstein has continually fought for affordable housing, working to
end the displacement of District residents;
WHEREAS, Mike Silverstein has prioritized safe streets, working to ensure streets and
sidewalks are safe for pedestrians, bicyclists, scooter users, and drivers;
WHEREAS, Mike Silverstein worked with the District Department of Transportation and
the Metropolitan Police Department to hold a public awareness campaign to highlight traffic
safety concerns in Dupont Circle;
WHEREAS, Mike Silverstein has been a champion of the S Street Dog Park, including
securing funds for its renovation;
WHEREAS, Mike Silverstein relentlessly worked to bring local businesses and neighbors
together to enhance the sense of community and support local, small businesses;
WHEREAS, Mike Silverstein helped push for sidewalk cafe streateries in response to
the coronavirus pandemic in order to increase outdoor dining and support independently owned
restaurants; and
WHEREAS, Mike Silverstein's long-standing commitment to public service has
positively impacted his neighbors, his community, Ward 2, and the District.

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the Mike Silverstein Recognition Resolution of 2022.
Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia honors and celebrates Mike Silverstein
for 20 years of exceptional leadership, advocacy, and service as a Commissioner for Advisory
Neighborhood Commission 2B, upon the end of his tenure as Commissioner.
Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
