A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION

IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
November 1, 2022
To recognize and honor Bishop-Designate Darrell Lewis and his community service.
WHEREAS, Bishop-Designate Darrell Lewis is a District native, one of 5 children in his
family;
WHEREAS, Bishop-Designate Lewis chose to devote his life to religious study in 1993
under the ministry of Dr. Todd Hall. In 1995, Bishop Designate Lewis completed his study under
Dr. Hall;
WHEREAS, Bishop-Designate Lewis is a life-long learner, receiving his Associates
Degree in Biblical Studies from Anchor Bible College in June 2020. Shortly after completing his
degree, he was appointed as Bishop Designate Lewis in October 2021;
WHEREAS, in 2005, then-Pastor Lewis was appointed as District Elder and recognized as
a community leader by the District of Columbia Councilmembers and Neighborhood
Commissions;
WHEREAS, Bishop-Designate Lewis has spearheaded and volunteers with several
nonprofit projects throughout the DMV area, including spearheading the Greens and Ground
project, a nonprofit project where he provides landscaping services and teaches landscaping as an
apprenticeship;
WHEREAS, Bishop-Designate Lewis dedicates his time to his family, including his wife
and Elect Lady Angela Lewis, 3 children, 3 grandchildren, and 4 godchildren; and
WHEREAS, Bishop-Designate Lewis has earned numerous awards and accolades for his
service to his church and community, including the Governors Citation Award from the State of
Maryland, an appointment as Chairman of the District Elder, and the Hero Award.
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the Bishop-Designate Darrell Lewis Recognition Resolution of 2022.

Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes and honors Bishop-Designate
Darrell Lewis on his appointment and service to the community.
Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
