                IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

                                      October 5, 2021

To recognize Mtokufa Ngwenya for more than 5 years of tireless work and dedication

       serving the District of Columbia in his role as Chief of Staff for Councilmember

       Robert C. White, Jr. at the Council of the District of Columbia.

        WHEREAS, Mtokufa Ngwenya took a risk and a new path when he accepted the

position as Chief of Staff to Councilmember Robert C. White, Jr. in the Council of the

District of Columbia in 2016;

        WHEREAS, without prior experience, Mtokufa Ngwenya quickly got to work

setting up a new Council office, hiring staff, identifying priorities, and setting a standard

of efficiency, integrity, and persistence;

        WHEREAS, Mtokufa Ngwenya immediately demonstrated his value in his ability

to hire a strong team. His reliability and drive to be better were hallmarks of his leadership

as Chief of Staff;

       WHEREAS, Mtokufa Ngwenyas ability to solve problems was evident while

navigating a seamless transition to virtual work during the COVID-19 pandemic;

       WHEREAS, his ability to defuse difficult situations by listening to peoples

concerns and focusing on the heart of each problem was an asset to the office;

       WHEREAS, Mtokufa Ngwenya encouraged staff to focus their work on what

would truly impact District residents;

        WHEREAS, Mtokufa Ngwenyas ability to forge relationships with people from

all across the District was valuable to the work of the office; and

       WHEREAS, Mtokufa Ngwenya brought a sense of humor, compassion, style, and

professionalism to his work, which set the tone for the office, including how staff interacted

with each other, with colleagues in the District government, and with residents.

        RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That

this resolution be cited as the Mtokufa Ngwenya Recognition Resolution of 2021.

       Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes and thanks Mtokufa

Ngwenya for his work and dedicated service to the District of Columbia as Chief of Staff

to Councilmember Robert C. White, Jr. and wishes him well in his next ventures.

       Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
