RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander Community

Karen Kwok
Karen Kwok, MSN, FNP-BC, MPH, is an advocate,
educator, and collaborator in public health and family
nursing. Her passion for public service includes wellness
programs and patient care services in Californias Yolo,
Fresno, San Mateo, and San Francisco Counties as well as
the Ministry of Health in Sub- Saharan Africa, Asia, and
Latin America/Caribbean. In cultural humility, she finds
joy in connecting with her patients of Asian, Latino, and
African American descent, With over 20 years committed
to patient health advocacy in resilient communities, she
now serves as a Nurse Practitioner at Washington DCs
Howard University.
The American Nurses Credentialing Center has identified
Ms. Kwok as a Family Nurse Practitioner content expert for the national certification exam. She
consults for a variety oforganizations ranging from companies working on innovative point-of-
care medical devices, fiscal sponsoring agencies supporting child welfare, and capacity building
with community development nonprofit organizations. Recognized for her potential in social
innovation, she received leadership fellowships with Hands on Bay Area, Active Citizens, New
Politics Academy, and National Urban Fellows.
Her team-oriented position draws from mentoring in shared leadership and passion for health
