12 To celebrate the 6oth wedding anniversary of Joseph L. Bowser and Joan Bowser on July 16, 2020.

15 WHEREAS, Joseph Bowser married Joan Davis on July 16, 1950, when they pledged vows
16 of marriage;

18 WHEREAS, Joseph and Joan Davis are both District of Columbia natives;
19
20 WHEREAS, Joseph and Joan Bowser raised their five children, Mercia, Marvin, Martin,
21 Mark and Muriel, in the North Michigan Park neighborhood of the District;
22
23 WHEREAS, Joseph and Joan Bowser raised their children with a strong grounding in their
24 Catholic faith and commitment to serving others;
25
26 WHEREAS, Joseph Bowser worked for the facilities division of District of Columbia
27 Public Schools for 40 years, served as the Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for 5A03, and
28 served as the president of the North Michigan Park Civic Association;
29
30 WHEREAS, Joan Bowser worked as a registered nurse in the District of Columbia for the
31 entirety of her career;

33 WHEREAS, Joseph and Joan Bowser are well-known leaders of their North Michigan Park
34 community, where they have lived for decades and continue to live to this day, and have had an
35 enormous impact on the neighborhood and neighbors alike;

37 WHEREAS, on July 16, 2020, Joseph and Joan Bowser celebrated their 60th anniversary,
38 a remarkable achievement; and
39
40 WHEREAS, Joseph and Joan Bowsers marriage is a testament to the commitment that
41 they have made to each other, the bond that they share with each other, and their strength through
42 the challenges that they have encountered over the last six decades.
43 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
44 resolution may be cited as the Joseph and Joan Bowser 60th Wedding Anniversary Ceremonial
45 Recognition Resolution of 2020.

46 Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia celebrates the 60th wedding anniversary of
47 Joseph and Joan Bowser and recognizes the great achievement of two extraordinary District
48 residents.
49 Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon the first date of publication in
50 the District of Columbia Register.
