142; D.C. Official Code 1-523.01), and pursuant to section 209 of the District of Columbia Health
Occupations Revision Act of 1985, effective March 25, 1986 (D.C. Law 6-99; D.C. Official Code
3+1202.09), which established the Board of Physical Therapy (Board), ! am pleased to nominate the

Bernardine Evans
Dr. Evans, PT, DPT, GCS is the Physical Therapy
Program Director at the Howard University College of
Nursing and Allied Health Sciences and a memberofthe
BoardofPhysical Therapy
Dr. Evans is involved in instructing graduate physical
therapy students, occupational therapy students, and
undergraduate radiation therapy students in pathology.
Other courses she teaches include Intro to Neuro,
Advanced Neuro, and Principles of Therapeutic Exercise.
She was previously the Director of Restorative and
Rehabilitative Services at Asbury Methodist Village in
Gaithersburg, Maryland where she was responsible for
the operation of a 2,000 resident continuing care
retirement community. She currently provides physical
therapy at Carroll Manor Nursing Home and Providence
Hospital and serves on the editorial review boards for
Orthopedic Research and Physiotherapy. Dr. Evans is a
member of the American Physical Therapy Association as well as the Geriatric Society of
Washington DC.
A Ward4 resident, Dr. Evans received Associate of Arts in General Studies and a Bachelor of
Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and a post-
professional Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Utica College ofSyracuse University.
