Pursuant to D.C. Official Code 1-204.51(b) (2) (A) and enclosed for consideration by
the Council of the District of Columbia is a proposed contract modification in the amount
of $1,300,000.00 to Contract No. DCPL-2018-C-0034B with Brodart Co. This
modification will allow the DC Public Library (DCPL) to purchase processed shelf-ready
books, print and digital content, materials and selected services to build and maintain
book and media collections for adult, teen and juvenile audiences for the twenty-six (26)
libraries that make up the DCPL system, as well as collections, materials and resources
that support the educational goals of the DC Public Schools (DCPS) libraries as part of
the shared technical services initiative between DCPL and DCPS.

Council approval is hereby sought to exercise Option Year 3 in the not-to-exceed
amount of $1,300,000.00 for the period October 1, 2020 through September 30,
2021.
(C) A statement that Citywide Clean Hands database indicates that the proposed
contractor is current with its District taxes. If the Citywide Clean Hands
Database indicates that the proposed contractor is not current with its District
taxes, either: (1) a certification that the contractor has worked out and is
current with a payment schedule approved by the District; or (2) a
certification that the contractor will be current with its District taxes after the
District recovers any outstanding debt as provided under D.C. Official Code
2-353.01(b):

The District of Columbia Public Library (DCPL), Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO),
certifies available FY 2021funding (subject to budget appropriation and availability) in the amount
of $1,300,000 to support option year 3 (October 1,2020 through September 3A,2021) for Contract
No. DCPL-2018-C-00348 with Brodart Co.
The FY 2A21, Option Year 3, Contract No. DCPL-2018-C-00348 with Brodart Co., is for
$950,000, to purchase new materials for adults, teens and children throughout the26libraries that
make up the DC Public Library system and the DC Public School (DCPS) system libraries, via a
Memorandum of Understanding as part of the shared technical services initiative between DCPL
and DCPS. The contract supports the purchase of new and popular books, electronic materials,
collection redevelopment and replacements, and programmatic initiatives support, as well as
selection tools, physical processing, and cataloging.
DCPL is seeking to modifu the dollar amount of the existing contract, by adding $350,000, to bring the
total option year 3 amount to $1,300,000. This contract will exceed $1,000,000 therefore Council
approval is required.
