IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
To symbolically designate 16th Street, N.W., between H Street, N.W., and K Street N.W. as
Black Lives Matter Plaza.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
act may be cited as the Black Lives Matter Plaza Designation Act of 2020.
43 Sec. 2. Pursuant to sections 401 and 403aof the Street and Alley Closing and Acquisition
44 Procedures Act of 1982, effective March 10, 1983 (D.C. Law 4-201; D.C. Official Code 9-
45 204.01 and 9-204.03a) (Act), the Council symbolically designates 16th Street, N.W., between
46 HStreet, N.W., and K Street N.W. as Black Lives Matter Plaza.
47 Sec. 3. Applicability.
48 This act shall apply as of June 5, 2020.
49 Sec. 4. Fiscal impact statement.
50 The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement of the Budget Director as the fiscal impact
31 statement required by section 4a of the General Legislative Procedures Act of 1975, approved
52 October 16, 2006 (120 Stat. 2038; D.C. Official Code 1-301.47a).
33 Sec. 5. Effective date.
34 This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the eventofveto by the
35 Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto), a 30-day period of congressional review as
56 provided in section 602(c)(1)ofthe District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December
57 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813; D.C. Official Code 1-206.02(c)(1)), and publication in the District of
58 Columbia Register.
