File No.:
Disclaimer: The following JOINT FAVORABLE Report is prepared for the benefit of the
members of the General Assembly, solely for purposes of information, summarization and
explanation and does not represent the intent of the General Assembly or either chamber
thereof for any purpose.
Sponsors of the Bill:
The Government Administration and Elections Committee
Reasons for Bill:
To convey a parcel of state land in the town of Rocky Hill to the town of Rocky Hill for
municipal purposes.
Response from Administration/Agency:
Joseph Giulietti, Commissioner, Department of Transportation:
The Department opposes the bill as written. They approve a release of a portion of this
property, however, a section of land to the rear of the property must be retained for
Department use. They ask that the bill be amended to allow the commissioner to determine
the size and area of parcels conveyed.
Nature and Sources of Support:
Drew OConnor, Support Operations Manager, Rocky Hill Volunteer Ambulance:
Their present facility has been completely inadequate for their needs, especially given COVID
19 minimum spacing requirements. One of the main goals is to plan to build into the new
facility is the ability to support a mass public inoculation operation. They are developing a
plan to be able to do this with strong partnerships with state agencies and proper state-wide
radio communications. All this can only be done with a proper facility to keep operational
calendars on time no matter the weather.
Nature and Sources of Opposition:
None expressed.
