REASONS FOR BILL:
The bill grants the Claims Commissioner an extension of one year from the final adoption of
this resolution by the General assembly to dispose of the 25 claims against the state listed in
the bill.
SUBSTITUE LANGUAGE:
The substitute language consolidated the claims of 23 claimants (25 claims) into one
resolution for efficiency and simplicity due to the volume of claim extensions.

NATURE AND SOURCES OF OPPOSITION:
The Law Offices of Brian J. Mongelluzo, David Hatshorn opposes HJ 179 (Section 4 of the
substitute language) on behalf of client Tajanik A. Jones stating that the procedural history in
the case which involves a slip and fall in 2014 at Southern Connecticut State University. It is
stated that the claim was filed over six years ago and is still has no resolution and requests
the claim to be permitted to proceed to the Superior Court.
Koskoff Koskoff & Bieder PC, Alinor C. Sterling, Esq. opposes HJ 186 (Section 11 of the
substitute language) on behalf of client Basem Karzoun, it is stated that the case involves the
death of the client at the University of Connecticut 2010 spring weekend. It is stated that the
claim was filed over ten years ago and there has been no resolution, to this matter. It is
requested that this claim be released so it may proceed in Superior Court.
