REASONS FOR BILL:
This bill will provide an additional circumstance under which a no-contest election of town
committee members may occur for municipalities that allow town committee members to be
chosen by direct primary. The additional circumstance occurs when the number of people
who have filed statements consenting to be candidates for town committee members does
not exceed the number of town committee members being elected but is at least 25% of that
number.
