REASONS FOR BILL:
This bill will require Dept. of Public Health and Office of Policy and Management to jointly
conduct a study of municipalities impacted by groundwater contamination with uranium. The
study will be complete by January 1, 2022, a report will be submitted to the General
Assembly having cognizance over matters relating to public health and planning and
development.
This report will report on their findings, make recommendations for those municipalities and
homeowners impacted by groundwater contamination. The recommendations should include
but not be limited to any program that can provide grants, low-interest loans and other
financial assistance to those who are impacted by the uranium contamination.
