REASONS FOR BILL:
HB-6603 allows for two or more municipalities to jointly appoint a representative to sit on
regional tourism districts; it also requires that a representative of the Connecticut Tourism
Coalition be a member of the Connecticut Tourism Council. In addition, HB-6603 establishes
a task force to study the shortage of employees in tourism-related businesses.
Substitute Language LCO 5414
The bill, as originally drafted, did not include a study of the shortage of employees in tourism-
related businesses. The substitute language in section three created a task force. The task
forces directive is to find job opportunities within the tourism industry, advertise these job
opportunities to residents, and review the transportation available to individuals seeking these
jobs.
