Housing Committee
REASONS FOR BILL:
The value of a housing voucher is not often apparent, n order for renters to know the value of
their rental voucher, housing authorities will need to post them on their website. To increase
transparency for those receiving rental assistance, this bill would require any housing
authority administering tenant-based rental assistance programs to post payment standards
on their web sites. It would also require the information be submitted to the 2-1-1 Infoline
program.
RESPONSE FROM ADMINISTRATION/AGENCY:
None Stated.
NATURE AND SOURCES OF SUPPORT:
None Stated.
NATURE AND SOURCES OF OPPOSITION:
Joseph D'Acsoli, President of the Connecticut Chapter of the National Association of Housing
and Redevelopment Officials- OPPOSES stating the bill would create "significant
challenges" by standardizing rental rates that would be applicable to voucher-based program
participants. Due to the complex nature of existing federal programs, adding another layer of
complexity at the state level would create undue costs and administrative burdens.
