AN ACT CONCERNING PHOTO IDENTIFICATION FOR VOTING
PURPOSES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
1 That the general statutes be amended to (1) provide that, prior to
2 receiving and being able to cast a ballot at the polling place, each elector
3 shall present to the official checker or checkers a current and valid photo
4 identification, which identification clearly displays such elector's name
5 and residential address, and (2) establish a program for waiving the fee
6 associated with obtaining, for voting purposes, a motor vehicle
7 operator's license, identity card or other government-issued form of
8 photo identification.
Statement of Purpose:
To (1) require the presentation of photo identification at the polls in
order to vote, and (2) establish a program for waiving the fee associated
with obtaining, for voting purposes, a form of government-issued photo
identification.
