AN ACT CONCERNING NONCOMPETE AGREEMENTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
1 That title 31 of the general statutes be amended to establish statutory
2 standards for reasonable noncompete agreements, including that (1)
3 each agreement be written, signed by the employer and employee and
4 state that the employee has a right to consult with counsel prior to
5 signing; (2) the employer provide notice of the agreement to the
6 employee; (3) an employer who requires an employee to sign a
7 noncompete agreement prior to beginning employment provide a copy
8 of the agreement to the employee either before making a formal offer or
9 ten days prior to the start of employment, whichever comes first; (4) an
10 employer who requires an employee to sign a noncompete agreement
11 during employment provide notice of the agreement not less than ten
12 business days before the agreement becomes effective; and (5) non-
13 compete agreements during employment be supported by
14 consideration other than continued employment.
