AN ACT CONCERNING EMERGENCY CERTIFICATES ISSUED BY
PHYSICIANS AND FIREARM POSSESSION AND SALES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
1 That chapter 529 of the general statutes be amended to require that a
2 temporary commitment to a hospital for psychiatric disabilities under
3 an emergency certificate issued by a physician, pursuant to section 17a-
4 502 of the general statutes, be added to any registry of admissions for
5 patients with psychiatric disabilities that is maintained by the
6 Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and reviewed for
7 purposes of determining whether persons are suitable to purchase or
8 possess a firearm.
Statement of Purpose:
To add temporary commitments under physician's emergency
certifications to any registry of admissions for patients with psychiatric
disabilities that is maintained by the Department of Mental Health and
Addiction Services and reviewed when determining the suitability of a
person to purchase or possess a firearm.
