AN ACT CONCERNING THE APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR A
TEMPORARY STATE PERMIT TO CARRY A PISTOL OR REVOLVER.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
1 That section 29-28a of the general statutes be amended to require an
2 applicant for a temporary state permit to carry a pistol or revolver to
3 provide the issuing authority with (1) a completed and notarized
4 application on the form prescribed by the Commissioner of Emergency
5 Services and Public Protection, which form may not be modified or
6 supplemented; (2) proof of lawful presence in the United States; (3) a
7 certificate of completion for a course in pistol and revolver safety; and
8 (4) two sets of fingerprints for purposes of the state and national
9 criminal history records check required by section 29-29 of the general
10 statutes.
Statement of Purpose:
To specify uniform criteria for an application for a temporary state
permit to carry a pistol or revolver so that each town and city will have
the same criteria, standards and procedures for the application process.
