REASONS FOR BILL:
This bill will honor the late Rep. Linda Orange, 48th District by naming the Troop K barracks
after her. Rep. Orange's dedication and support for her constituents and to the those who
were firefighters, armed forces, and police is well known. This would be a tribute to the good
works that Rep. Orange was able to accomplish in her time as a representative at the
Connecticut General Assembly, House of Representatives.

Denise Merrill wrote in support of this bill. Rep. Orange represented the 48th Assembly
District and was incredibly popular and loved in her district and was a good friend to many in
the legislature. She worked well with both sides of the aisle and had ability to find
consensus. Naming the Troop K barracks after Rep. Orange would be a fitting memorial.

The Department is in full support of this bill. Rep. Orange was a steadfast supporter and a
constant voice for all first responders in the state. She was instrumental in the creation of the
Dep. Of Emergency Services and Public Protection in 2011. Troop K barracks being named
after her would be an honor and a tribute to accomplishment to the first responder
community.

CT State Firefighters support this bill. Rep. Orange was a constant supporter of all Fire
Service Organizations and this tribute is very much deserved.

Mr. Goldstein supports this bill. Naming the barracks after Rep. Orange is an appropriate
honor as she was dedicated to her constituents and also to those who served as first
responders and the military who put their own lives at risk protecting the public. There is no
better tribute to Rep. Orange than naming the Troop K barracks after her.
Michelle Noehren, Resident of Colchester, CT
Ms. Noehren supports this bill. Rep. Orange was important community member and a big
supporter of the police. Naming Troop K barracks after Rep. Orange is a beautiful way to
remember her legacy. There are many in Colchester who feel the same way.
