AN ACT REQUIRING AN AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR IN
HEALTH CLUBS AND ATHLETIC FACILITIES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
1 That the general statutes be amended to (1) require each health club
2 and athletic facility to have an automatic external defibrillator on site
3 and at least one employee or volunteer with unexpired evidence of
4 completing a course in the use of an automatic external defibrillator and
5 in cardiopulmonary resuscitation on site during staffed business hours,
6 and (2) limit the liability of a health club and its employees from any
7 cause of action that may arise in connection with the use or nonuse of
8 an automatic external defibrillator unless there is a showing of gross
9 negligence or wilful or wanton misconduct.
Statement of Purpose:
To require health clubs and athletic facilities to provide and maintain
automatic external defibrillators.
