AN ACT CONCERNING PERFLUOROALKYL AND
POLYFLUOROALKYL SUBSTANCES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
1 That the general statutes be amended to (1) prohibit any person, local
2 government or state agency from using a class B firefighting foam that
3 contains an intentionally added perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl
4 substance in any amount for any purpose, and (2) require the
5 Department of Public Health to develop and implement a plan for (A)
6 testing water supply sources, water supplies and bottled water, as
7 defined in section 21a-150 of the general statutes, for contamination by
8 perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, and (B) educating the
9 public regarding the potential risks of drinking water that has been
10 contaminated by such substances.
Statement of Purpose:
To protect the public by limiting exposure to perfluoroalkyl and
polyfluoroalkyl substances.
