 AN ACT CONCERNING LICENSED OCCUPATIONS OF MILITARY
 SPOUSES.
 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
 Assembly convened:
 1        Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2020) (a) Except as otherwise
 2     provided in the general statutes, a military spouse who accompanies his
 3     or her spouse who is a military member assigned to a base in this state
 4     and who holds a current occupational license in another state may
 5     engage in the occupation for which the military spouse is licensed,
 6     provided such military spouse presents a copy of his or her
 7     identification card and evidence satisfactory to the department having
 8     jurisdiction over such license that the military spouse (1) is currently
 9     licensed by another state whose standards, in the opinion of the
10     department, are substantially similar to, or higher than, those of this
11     state, (2) is in good standing, (3) is not the subject of any pending
12     professional disciplinary action, (4) is not the subject of a pending,
13     unresolved complaint, and (5) is presently residing in this state.
14        (b) The state agency having jurisdiction of such license shall verify
15     the military spouse's license in such other state and that it is in good

16   standing. The military spouse's out-of-state license shall be recognized
17   for the duration of the military member's assignment in this state or for
18   three years, whichever is less.
19      (c) For the purpose of this section, "military spouse" means a person
20   married to an active duty member of the armed forces, as defined in
21   section 27-103 of the general statutes.
      This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
      sections:
      Section 1           October 1, 2020                        New section

     To permit the state to recognize current, out-of-state occupational
     licenses held by military spouses.
