Existing law, the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act, requires the State Department of Developmental Services to contract with regional centers to provide services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Existing law requires the department, through those contracts, to ensure that specified information, including, among other things, the social security number of the parents of the consumer, is collected by each regional center for each new case and is also collected at each review of all regional center clients in out-of-home placement.
This bill would remove the requirement for the department to ensure that the social security number of the parents of the consumer is collected by regional centers.
