Existing law establishes the California Community Colleges, under the administration of the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, as one of the segments of public postsecondary education in this state. The board of governors consists of 17 members, including 2 community college students appointed by the Governor for 2-year terms. Existing law prohibits a student member from voting at a board meeting during the first year of the student member's term, except as specified.
This bill would eliminate the prohibition against a student member voting during the student member's first year on the board.
