This bill proposes to amend current statutes by adding a new section, 20-3103, to the Arizona Revised Statutes, which will require health care insurers to provide specific information when denying a claim or prior authorization. Under the new law, insurers must supply a telephone number or email address for an individual or department that can explain the denial, as well as a substantive response to inquiries about the denial within two business days of receiving the questions.

The effective date for this new requirement is set for July 1, 2026. The bill does not alter any existing provisions in the current law but adds these obligations to enhance transparency and accountability in the claims process for health care insurers.
