HB2418 is an emergency measure that creates the Police Response Time Study Committee to address emergency call response times and law enforcement staffing shortages in Arizona. The committee, consisting of 13 members, will gather input from law enforcement officials, experts, and the community to develop recommendations for maintaining or improving response times and addressing staffing issues, including recruitment, hiring, and retention. The committee is tasked with compiling methods and data sources for calculating response times, reviewing current data, and submitting a report of its findings by December 21, 2023. The committee will be dissolved on July 1, 2024, and members will not receive compensation for their service. The act becomes effective upon the Governor's signature, provided the emergency clause is enacted.
