FACT SHEET FOR S.B. 1138

 

address confidentiality program; continuation

Purpose

                      Continues the Address Confidentiality Program (Program) until July 1, 2031.

Background

                      The Program allows persons who have been subjected to domestic violence offenses, sexual offenses or stalking to keep their residence addresses confidential and not accessible to the general public. Participants in the Program receive a substitute address that becomes the participant's lawful address of record. The Secretary of State must designate the substitute address of the Program participant, and receive and forward first class, certified or registered mail belonging to the Program participant at no charge (A.R.S.   41-162).

                      There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.

Provisions

1.           Continues, retroactive to July 1, 2021, the Program until July 1, 2031.

2.           Makes a technical change.

3.           Becomes effective on the general effective date, retroactive to July 1, 2021.
