20 WHEREAS, the AARP™ Arkansas Chapter is the state office of the American
21 Association of Retired Persons which is a national nonprofit with the mission
22 to empower people to choose how they live as they age; and
23
24 WHEREAS, the AARP™ was founded in 1958; and
25
26 WHEREAS, the AARP™ Arkansas State Office is active in improving the
27 life of Arkansans ages fifty (50) and above and their families; and
28
29 WHEREAS, the AARP™ Arkansas State Office is focused on issues
30 surrounding broadband expansion in underserved communities, fraud prevention,
31 and increasing livable communities throughout the state; and
32
33 WHEREAS, the AARP™ Arkansas State Office volunteers actively promote
34 driver safety, address concerns of veterans, and advocate for the fifty (50)
35 and above age population; and

1 WHEREAS, Arkansas’s ages fifty (50) and above community is roughly
2 thirty-six percent (36%) of the population in the State of Arkansas; and

4 WHEREAS, the AARP™ Arkansas State Office strives to be the leading
5 resource in education, innovation, and access to services by removing
6 barriers for the fifty (50) and above age population,
7
8 NOW THEREFORE,
9 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN:

12 THAT the House of Representatives recognize the AARP™ Arkansas State
13 Office as an organization that has been vital to serving the needs of
14 Arkansans.
15
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the House of Representatives proclaim April as
17 AARP™ Month at the State Capitol and to proclaim April 5, 2023, as AARP™ Day
18 at the State Capitol.
