ORDERED TO PAY CHILD SUPPORT.

Basic Change :
Sponsor: Rep. Gazaway and Sen. Clark
HB1810 amends current law providing that a parent obligated to provide child support and who refuses
to pay support or engage in work activities ordered by the court may be incarcerated. Current law also
provides that such parent may be temporarily released from jail for work as ordered by the court. The
bill adds the requirement that the refusal to pay support or engage in work activities must be willful in
order to result in incarceration.

The bill clarifies that refusal to pay support must be willful in order to subject a parent obligated to
incarceration.
