23 NAMED 2022 CLASS 3A STATE HONOR BANDS.

25 WHEREAS, on November 1, 2022, the Fouke High School Panther Marching
26 Band won the Class 3A State Marching Championship; and
27
28 WHEREAS, with this latest championship, the Fouke High School Panther
29 Marching Band has won the Class 3A State Marching Championships for five (5)
30 consecutive years; and
31
32 WHEREAS, on August 30, 2021, the Fouke High School and Paulette Smith
33 Middle School Concert bands were named as the 2022 Class 3A State Honor
34 Bands by the Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association; and
35
36 WHEREAS, on February 17, 2022, Fouke High School and Paulette Smith

1 Middle School State Honor bands performed at the 2022 All-State Music
2 Conference at the Hot Springs Convention Center; and
3
4 WHEREAS, the total amount of music performance scholarships awarded to
5 members of the Fouke High School Panther Band over the pasts five (5) years
6 is two hundred sixty-six thousand dollars ($266,000); and
7
8 WHEREAS, the Fouke High School Panther Marching Band and the Fouke
9 High School Panther Honor Band are under the direction of Mr. Don Colquitt;
10 and
11
12 WHEREAS, the Paulette Smith Middle School State Honor Band is under
13 the direction of Mrs. Kara Compton; and
14
15 WHEREAS, the Fouke School District is a small, rural Arkansas public
16 school district; and
17
18 WHEREAS, the Fouke School District demographic is comprised of a sixty
19 percent (60%) Free and Reduced Lunch Program under the National School Lunch
20 Act; and
21
22 WHEREAS, the Fouke community voted to extend the current school
23 millage rate in order to raise revenue to construct a performing arts center
24 for the school district’s successful fine arts programs,
25
26 NOW THEREFORE,
27 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN:

30 THAT the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring, recognize
31 the Fouke High School and the Fouke High School Panther Marching Band for
32 winning five (5) consecutive Class 3A State Championships and recognize the
33 Fouke High School and Paulette Smith Middle School concert bands for being
34 named the 2022 Class 3A State Honor Band.

36 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution shall be

1 provided to Mr. Don Colquitt and Mrs. Kara Compton by the Chief Clerk of the
2 House of Representatives.
