8 TO RECOGNIZE THE MALVERN LEOPARDS FOOTBALL TEAM AS
9 THE CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONS.

15 CHAMPIONS.

17 WHEREAS, the Malvern Leopards bested the Harding Academy Wildcats to
18 take the Class 4A state football championship with a score of 64-39 at War
19 Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Arkansas, on Saturday, December 10, 2022,
20 claiming the team's first state title in twenty-nine (29) years and the
21 second in school history; and
22
23 WHEREAS, following two (2) inclement weather delays totaling three and
24 one-half hours (3 1/2), the two (2) teams were able to get back on the field
25 and combined for one thousand one hundred thirty-seven (1,137) yards of
26 offense, which is the second highest offense in Arkansas state championship
27 game history; and

29 WHEREAS, unforeseen scheduling changes prior to the beginning of the
30 regular season left Malvern with only three (3) home games; and
31
32 WHEREAS, between the regular season games and playoff games, the team
33 traveled approximately one thousand seven hundred (1,700) miles of road
34 trips, including trips to Riverview; Glen Rose; Hernando, Mississippi;
35 Waldron; Mena; Nashville; Lamar; Warren; and War Memorial Stadium,

1 NOW THEREFORE,
2 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE
3 STATE OF ARKANSAS:

5 THAT the Senate congratulate and recognize the Malvern Leopards
6 football team as the Class 4A state champions.
7
8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption of this resolution, a copy be
9 provided to Coach J.D. Plumlee by the Secretary of the Senate.
