TOPIC - Higher Education Scholarships
AFFECTED FUNDS – HEG7030 – Military Dependent Scholarship, 7007007 – Academic
Challenge Scholarship
REVENUE IMPACT - $2,000,000
ASSUMPTIONS - BASED ON: Current increases due to changes in previous years to include
private institutions in funding as well as analysis of previous applications that were denied based
on current definitions of dependent only including stepchildren that have been legally adopted by
their step-parent.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS – This change would not affect processing of scholarships in a
negative way, and would benefit more students throughout the state. The only concern is whether
funds would be available as current award levels are already higher than current scholarship
funding allocations.
