10 SENATE DURING HIS TENURE AS LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR.

17 DURING HIS TENURE AS LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR.

20 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Governor Tim Griffin was elected Lieutenant
21 Governor of Arkansas on November 4, 2014, becoming the twentieth Lieutenant
22 Governor in the history of Arkansas, and was reelected for his second four-
23 year term on November 6, 2018; and
24
25 WHEREAS, the official duties of Lieutenant Governor as described by the
26 Arkansas Constitution are to preside over the Senate with a tie-breaking
27 vote, and to serve as Governor if the Governor is impeached, removed from
28 office, dies, or is otherwise unable to discharge the office's duties; and
29
30 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Governor Tim Griffin has been an experienced,
31 steady, and reliable leader as presiding officer of the Senate, often ruling
32 on important motions and parliamentary procedures, and earning a reputation
33 for fairness and treating senators with respect; and
34
35 WHEREAS, during his tenure as Lieutenant Governor, Tim Griffin has
36 taken on several important leadership roles including, serving as Chair of

1 the Governor's Council on Common Core Review, as Vice Chair of the Governors
2 Transformation Advisory Board, and as a member of the Governors Military
3 Affairs Committee, and has conducted a top-to-bottom organizational review of
4 the Department of Human Services at the request of Governor Asa Hutchinson;
5 and
6
7 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Governor Tim Griffin has been an outspoken advocate
8 for causes important to the State of Arkansas during his tenure, including
9 improving childhood literacy, promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and
10 Math (STEM) education, expanding parental choice in education, and providing
11 tax relief to Arkansas workers and families,
12
13 NOW THEREFORE,
14 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE
15 STATE OF ARKANSAS:
16
17 THAT the individual members of the Senate publicly and deeply thank
18 Lieutenant Governor Tim Griffin for his steady leadership, his tireless
19 service, and his sincere devotion to the Senate and its members.
