17 ELECTED BLACK COUNTY JUDGES.

19 WHEREAS, in 2016 Washington County Judge Joseph Wood and Jefferson
20 County Judge Henry Hank Wilkins IV became the first elected Black county
21 judges in Arkansass history; and
22
23 WHEREAS, prior to being elected, Joseph Wood successful served in many
24 roles in both the public and private sectors, most recently serving as the
25 Deputy Secretary of State for the Business and Commercial Services Division
26 and the Communication and Education Division; and
27
28 WHEREAS, prior to being elected, Henry Hank Wilkins IV served many
29 years in the General Assembly; and
30
31 WHEREAS, Washington County Judge Joseph Woods and Jefferson County
32 Judge Henry Hank Wilkins IVs many accomplishments led to their respective
33 constituencies electing them as the first Black county judges in Arkansass
34 history; and

36 WHEREAS, Washington County Judge Joseph Wood and Jefferson County Judge

4 NOW THEREFORE,
5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

8 THAT the House of Representatives recognize Washington County Judge
9 Joseph Wood's and Jefferson County Judge Henry "Hank" Wilkins IV's place in
10 Arkansas History as Arkansass first Black county judges.
