7 SENATE RESOLUTION
8 COMMENDING THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LITTLE ROCK FOR ITS
9 ONE-HUNDRED-YEAR HISTORY OF TRAINING COMMUNITY AND
10 CIVIC LEADERS AND ITS ONGOING SERVICE TO THE
11 COMMUNITY OF LITTLE ROCK.

21 WHEREAS, the Junior League of Little Rock is entering its one hundredth
22 year of service to the city's community; and
23
24 WHEREAS, the Junior League of Little Rock is an organization of women
25 committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and
26 improving the community through the effective action and leadership of
27 trained volunteers; and
28
29 WHEREAS, the purpose of Junior League of Little Rock is exclusively
30 educational and charitable, and its membership consists of around one
31 thousand (1,000) dynamic women representing a diverse group of races,
32 religions, and professional fields; and
33
34 WHEREAS, the Junior League of Little Rocks rich history includes
35 participating in the formation of several community institutions, events, and
36 services, including the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, Riverfest Arts and

1 Musical Festival, the Museum of Discovery, Potluck Food Rescue, Gaines House,
2 the Parent Center at the Centers for Youth and Families, Volunteers in Public
3 Schools, Seven on Your Side with KATV Channel 7, and more; and
4
5 WHEREAS, the Junior League of Little Rock is currently focusing
6 its community projects and advocacy efforts on creating meaningful change to
7 improve the school preparedness of Arkansas children by providing school
8 supplies and free books to elementary school students in the Little Rock
9 School District, allowing children, regardless of ability, an opportunity to
10 attend summer camp together at KOTA Camp held with Camp Aldersgate, and
11 providing meals and activity nights to caregivers of children receiving
12 treatment at Arkansas Childrens Hospital; and
13
14 WHEREAS, the Junior League of Little Rock has also continued its legacy
15 of volunteerism and civic leadership by establishing the Nonprofit Board
16 Institute, which provides a training course designed to bolster effective
17 board engagement in the nonprofit sector as well as transforming the third
18 floor of its historic headquarters into the Junior League of Little Rock
19 Nonprofit Center, a shared work space for social entrepreneurs, foundations,
20 and nonprofit organizations whose work is making a difference in Arkansas
21 communities, and which also provides resources to foster organizational
22 growth and capacity while enhancing the missions of resident nonprofit
23 organizations,

25 NOW THEREFORE,
26 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE
27 STATE OF ARKANSAS:

29 THAT the Senate recognize the Junior League of Little Rock for its one-
30 hundred-year history of training community and civic leaders, and its
31 continued service to the community of Little Rock.
32
33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption of this resolution, a copy be
34 provided to the Junior League of Little Rocks President Maradyth McKenzie by
35 the Secretary of the Senate.
